Office chair ergonomics - guidelines for chair adjustment

  Chair adjustment: Office chair ergonomics

Sit in the chair, move your chair under the work surface and adjust the height of the chair so as to leave about 5 cm between the top of your thigh and the bottom of work surface.

In this position, check to see whether your feet are flat on the floor. If not, use a footrest.

Backrest angle should be between 95° and 100° relative to the seat of the chair.

Adjust backrest height so that the lateral protrusion in the lower third of the backrest fits into the arch of your lower back.

In this position, your thighs should be touching the seat, but the edge of the seat should be at least 5 cm away from the back of your knees.

Knee angle should be between 90° and 100°.

Adjust the armrests so that elbow angle is between 90° and 100°. When resting your forearms on the armrests, you should feel that your shoulders are relaxed.
